The Hotel Le Couvent Royal is based in Provence and adjoins the Basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume.
The Basilica of Saint-Maximin and the convent are the most beautiful Provencal Gothic structures in the South-East of France. They were built in 1295 by Charles II, King of Sicily and Count of Provence, to house the relic of Saint-Marie-Madeleine whose tombs was discovered here in 1279.

Today, this site is classified as an « Historical monument » transformed into an hotel with 67 rooms each with views of the Cloisters or garden. The hotel has several meeting and conference rooms, a brasserie, a bar and a restaurant.
We hereby inform you that the Var Department, which owns the Hotel Couvent Royal of Saint-Maximin, will effect renovation work on the roof for a period of 4 months commencing on 21st May 2018.
The hotel, the restaurant and the brasserie remain open and guests will have undisturbed access to the cloisters and the garden.

It has rooms in the former Dominican Fathers’ quarters, a restaurant in the vaulted Salle Capitulaire or in the Cloister in the summer, a wonderful garden, large areas for events, and more. During your stay, you will realise that the Couvent Royal is a monument in its own right. The 67 rooms (27 twin rooms and 38 double rooms) are on two floors. Serenity is without question the right word to characterise the atmosphere of these elegantly decorated rooms.

All rooms have a view of the cloister or the garden. Our guests enjoy all the comfort of a three-star hotel. Standard room are for two people and have one queen-size bed or twin beds.

The Hotel forms part of the 13th Century Convent and its 67 rooms are to be found in the monks old sleeping quarters. With a view on the cloister garden or to the street, the Couvent Royal’s rooms are divided in 4 categories : Pelerin, Tradition, Superior and Suite.

The magnificent restaurant is under the cross vaults in the Salle Capitulaire. From the end of May, when the summer season starts, customers are served in the Cloister. Enjoy traditional and inventive cuisine with Provencal colours and flavours.

Saint-Thomas, Grand Réfectoire, Chapelle, Cloître: the names of these rooms alone express the special atmosphere that exudes from these beautiful 13th-century buildings. Your events here don’t necessarily have to be classical. The hotel can welcome up to 300 people in the seven rooms that cover 900 square metres. Getting married or celebrating an important private event in an atypical and surprising venue steeped in history makes for a lasting memory. Moreover there are large and very lovely areas in which to organise prestigious events for up to 600 people.

We can offer you 8 rooms (floor plan available on request), which can welcome until 300 guests, and also our Cloister, which can welcome up to 600 guests.
For your seminars, several packages are available : study day package (meeting room, 1 coffee break and lunch with drinks included), semi-residential package (study day package + 1 night bed & breakfast), and the residential package (semi-residential package with 2 coffee breaks and 1 dinner drinks included).
